Hardware Lead — Edge Systems
Lead the design, then carry it from a demo on a bench to a line that repeats it.
The mission
Our intelligence runs on hardware somebody has to design, certify, manufacture and keep alive in the field. That is this seat. You lead the design of the final structure — you do not brief it out and hope — and you carry it through three stages: a virtual AI demo that proves the idea, an engineering prototype that earns its compliance, and a production-ready version built with vendors who can actually make it in volume. The arc starts here: no hardware, no signal.
The ground you'll cover
What you'll own
- Lead the design of the final structure — form, enclosure, board, thermals, and how it all goes together. OEMs, EMS partners and contract manufacturers build to your design; they do not decide it for you.
- Carry the product up the three stages: a virtual AI demo that proves the concept, an engineering prototype that is real hardware, and a production-ready version — and know what each stage is allowed to leave unfinished.
- Get compliance done at the engineering prototype rather than after it — BIS, WPC / ETA, EMI-EMC, TEC. Certification is a design input here, not a box ticked at the end.
- Own hardware selection — SoC, camera module, storage, connectivity, thermals, power — and defend every choice on cost, supply and service life.
- Line up and run the vendors who build the production version at real quantities, and hold them to tooling, yield and schedule.
- Own the firmware release line — signed binaries, versioning, factory flashing, and validation that is checked back rather than assumed.
- Define how our software is packed onto the device, with the MLOps Lead, so any unit's image is reproducible from a version number.
What we're looking for
- 8+ years in embedded / product hardware, including at least one product you personally took from concept to volume production.
- You have led the design of a product's final structure, not only specified it to a vendor — and OEM, EMS and contract-manufacturer relationships are yours to run, negotiate and correct.
- You have climbed the full ladder: a demo that proves the concept, an engineering prototype, and a production build — and you know which problems belong to which rung.
- You have been through Indian certification (BIS, WPC / ETA, TEC MTCTE) or an equivalent regime, and you plan for it at prototype stage instead of discovering it at the end.
- Firmware release discipline: signing, versioning, factory provisioning, and field validation you can prove.
- Fluent enough in software to argue productively with engineers about what the board has to do.
Signals that set you apart
- Cameras, drones, or any 24/7 device deployed outdoors in unforgiving conditions.
- Sourcing and managing vendors for production runs in the hundreds and upward, where tooling, yield and cost engineering start to bite.
